ABOUT JASON ANDERSON, San Bernardino County District Attorney – elect
Jason Anderson is a veteran prosecutor, serving 17 years as a Deputy District Attorney – 13 of which were spent prosecuting child abusers and molesters. He will bring trustworthy, ethical and committed leadership at a time when it’s needed most.
The District Attorney’s mission ought to be simple and direct: Aggressively and successfully prosecute cases that can be proved beyond a reasonable doubt. Jason has committed that this will be his singular objective. Political gamesmanship and personal ambition will have no place in his administration. The pursuit of justice will not be compromised by political consultants or public information officers.
Each day, Jason will be present and engaged in trying to keep our residents safe. He will work to reduce repeat offenders by pushing back against Sacramento politicians who are making our community less safe. He will partner with community leaders to ensure everyone is treated fairly, and he will focus on the most important task of prosecuting violent offenders and child molesters. He will be a hands-on District Attorney, taking responsibility himself for a caseload in court, as opposed to a hands-off politician who loses touch with justice system issues that affect us all.
Jason is a law professor at La Verne College of Law, where he has instructed many current Deputy District Attorneys. He is also an attorney in private practice. During his tenure as a Deputy District Attorney, he served in the Crimes Against Children Unit, trained newly-hired prosecutors, and received the Jennifer Brooks Lawyer of the Year and the Crime Survivors Above and Beyond Awards.
Jason has also served as an elected member of the Ontario City Council where he oversaw a $500 million annual budget with no deficits and no tax increases, and as an appointed member of the Ontario Planning Commission where he worked on the city’s new General Plan and on the opening of Citizen’s Business Bank Arena. He and his wife, Starla Anderson, have two children.
