ABOUT TOM ROSS, CEO of Swing Strat
For nearly 30 years, Tom Ross has worked to elect candidates, pass ballot measures, direct hundreds-of-millions of dollars in political giving, and solve complex government relations issues for associations and Fortune 100 companies.
Since 1996 Tom has been involved in many of California’s major political battles — from passing redistricting reform and open primaries to stopping shakedown lawsuits and requiring 2/3rds vote on fee increases. Additionally, Tom has served as a lead strategist for campaigns to defeat statewide tax measures including the most recent split-roll property tax measure.
Tom focuses on state and local ballot measure elections; representing major donors; assisting federal super PACs and state independent expenditure committees; legislative support; and public affairs campaigns.
ABOUT BILL VELTO, Mayor of Upland
Bill Velto has been a resident of Upland for almost 60 years and is one of nine children of the late Al and Gloria Velto. “The values I learned from my parents of honesty, integrity and respect are the values that I strive to adhere to today.”
Prior to being elected as Mayor of Upland, Bill was appointed to the Upland City Council. Bill also served as Vice Chairman of the Upland Planning Commission, and a planning commissioner for many years.
Bill believes that working together we will make Upland a better place to call home. Bill also believes Upland is a great place to grow up raise a family, and has dedicated his career to promoting Upland, and will continue to make every effort to continue the tradition that Upland remains “The City of Gracious Living”.
ABOUT PAUL LEON, Mayor of Ontario
Mayor Paul Leon was appointed to the Ontario City Council in 1998. He was later elected to the City Council in 1999 and re-elected in 2000 and 2004. He served as Mayor pro Tem from December 2002 until January 2005. Paul was elected to Mayor in a special election in June 2005 and re-elected to four year terms in November 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018. Subsequently he has been Mayor for 15 years.
In 1998, Paul received the Montclair/Inland Valley Soroptimist President’s Award, in 1999 the Positive Choices for Youth “Exemplar” Award, the Chaffey Joint Union High School District Community Service Award and in 2006 was selected by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce Latino Business Council as the Community Leader of the Year.
