ABOUT DAWN ROWE, Candidate for Supervisor, District 3
A Southern California native, Dawn Rowe served as an appointed member of the Board of Supervisors from December 2018 to January 2020. Prior to serving on the Board, Dawn was a member of the Yucca Valley Town Council from 2010 to 2014, during which time she was selected by her peers to serve as Mayor.
Due to her exceptional community work within the Morongo Basin, Dawn was brought on to the staff of then-Assemblyman Paul Cook (AD-65) as a Field Representative in 2008. She transitioned to his Congressional staff in 2012 when he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. As a Field Representative for Congressman Cook, Dawn was integral in negotiating a legislative solution that resulted in the protection of thousands of acres of popular OHV trails from closure due to the expansion of the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms.
Dawn received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Drake University and a Master of Science in Advertising from Northwestern University. She resides in Yucca Valley and continues to substitute teach for the Morongo Valley Unified School District when she can.
ABOUT COLONEL PAUL COOK, Candidate for Supervisor, District 1
Col. Paul Cook (ret.) was elected to serve in the US House of Representatives in November 2012. He represents California’s 8th Congressional District which includes the high desert communities of San Bernardino County as well as Mono and Inyo counties.
An infantry officer who served with distinction in the United States Marine Corps and a veteran of the Vietnam War, Col. Cook’s military career spanned twenty-six years. His actions in combat earned him a number of honors, including two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star Medal with a V for valor. He retired from the Marine Corps in 1992 as a colonel.
Prior to his election to the U.S. House of Representatives, Col. Cook represented the 65th Assembly District for six years in the California State Legislature and served on the Yucca Valley Town Council.
In the U.S. House of Representatives, Cook is a member of the Armed Services and Natural Resources committees. He lives in Yucca Valley with his wife, Jeanne.
